Chaunsath Yogini-one of 10 Temples of India

Situated at Bhedaghat in Jabalpur district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India One of the most famous temple and historical place is Chaunsath Yogini.It is situated on a hill and approached stone by steps, Chaunsath yougini temple commands a singularly beautiful sight of the whole area around and also of the river flowing through the marble rocks, dedicated to Lord Shiva, this 10th century kalchuri temple has sixty four sculptures of various goddesses forms of Durga, beside a Shiva temple.
A yogini is the female origin of a practicing male Yogi, having a steadfast mind cultivated by the disciplined pursuit of transcendence through Yoga. To the southwest of the western group is the Chaunsath Yougini shrine dedicated to the 64 yoginis or manifestations of the mother goddess. Mother is first guru in the Hindu tradition and in the yoga tradition, proper respect of Yogi is an essential part to liberation.
A Yogini is the sacred feminine force made incarnate, the goddesses of mythology (Lakshmi, Durga, Kali) as well as the ordinary human who is enlightened, both having passion, spiritual powers and deep insight capable of giving birth to saints, peacemakers and Yogis. The temple is the earliest temple of the group which has survived. It belongs to900 AD and is dedicated Goddess Kali.
Summary-Chaunsath Yougini is the oldest temple of India. The temples of Khajuraha Are the main highlights of architecture. It is called as the temple of lord Shiv.
