Chaunsath Yogini Temple in Khajuraho

Built in the 900 AD this is the oldest surviving temple in the group made solely of granite and dedicated to Goddess Kali.
To the southwest of the Western Group (along a not very congenial pathway) is the Chaunsath Yogini shrine dedicated to the 64 yoginis or manifestations of the Mother Goddess.

Vishwanatha Temple

This is a must visit temple with impressive entrances, magnificent stone guarding its northern steps and royal masonry elephants warding the southern steps. The three headed image of Lord Brahma in the temple is also a captivating sight.

Kandariya Mahadeo

The 31m high temple is the largest and most typical Khajuraho temple with exquisite carvings and intricate and detailed craftsmanship in stone depicting divine deities, celestial maidens, eternal lovers, gods and goddesses. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and enshrines the ‘linga’.
